Follow up on the blog-tag post.

Posted on 17 May 2008 by sam

It seems like the blog-tag game has a bigger impact than I expected (see the original thread here).

It’s funny to follow the trails and to see how deep the threads go. To make it easier for you I deciced to try and follow the links as far as I can and put them in this post.
In addition, if the poster of the blog-tag game links back to this blog, I’ll active backlink to that blog in this list. Continue Reading

Discovering my digital IDENTITY - updated again

Posted on 13 May 2008 by sam

I noticed my visitor rate has increased lately. I’m getting frequent hits from everywhere, the cusual surfer, some regular known visitors but a lot of hits through google and other search engines. The strangest searchwords/keywords turn up in the logs, just as if I’m being screened.

Even though I try to keep my private life as much separated from my internet life as possible, I don’t have any digital secrets, and I leave digital fingerprints everywhere … some intentionally, others without knowing.

But hey … I welcome all new visitors and the more hits the better. It’s nice to know my stuff is being read and probably criticised. I will even make it somewhat easier for the casual surfer to find me on the net and provide them with an updated list of all my known digital fingerprints.

If I should forget any, please feel free to comment and leave a link where you found me.
Ok here we go, here are the places you can find me. Starting with a plus are sites that I visit/update on a regular base, the ones with a minus … well you get the point:

A little game …

Posted on 29 November 2007 by sam

People who have me on their MSN list know I like using quotes and messages o/t day in my msn-nickname.
Today I’m going to put the text “Two more day and then … ”
I wonder how many curious people will ask me “what will happen then????”. It will be a simple and clear answer “then it’s Saturday”. I’m enjoy it already (yeah really :p)

Photography - an assignment given by Crahan

Posted on 15 November 2007 by sam

Some time ago, Timothy linked me a webpage where one person made a photograph and invited other people to post-process the picture the way they wanted it.

In analogy to this, Crahan (Thomas) started a similar project a few days ago. He supplied us with the untouched raw file and asked for our perception and adaption of the image.
I liked this idea a lot, downloaded the .DNG file and fired up my Photoshop immediately as I didn’t want to go post-processing with Raw Camera or Aperture.

The first steps I took were cropping, framing and cutting the picture. I didn’t want to touch the image itself by altering anything but levels, colours, curves. I did want to accentuate the warm weather and focus on the three people on the bench.

This is what I came up with, I hope you like it.

Over there

Thomas will collect all altered images in a few days and you will be able to see them on http://www.n00.be
If you want you can always grab the raw file and give a shot at it yourself. Have fun.

4 days cost me 119$ ???

Posted on 17 October 2007 by sam

They must be kidding me at Apple?
People who bought their mac ON or AFTER october 1st will receive their copy of Leopard at the price of the shipping cost, being about 10$.
I bought my Mac Mini … yes … the 26th of september (that’s exactly 1 month prior to the launch, but at that time the date wasn’t public yet). I was hoping to find a voucher or something in the box but had no luck at that. No, it seems I’m not only out of luck but also get punished for being an early buyer!
Nonetheless I’ll send them a mail and ask, or beg (yes I already sold my soul to Apple) why they just don’t make this offer valid for all their new models. I’ll keep you all posted on this!

For the dutch people who want to read the full offer: the webpage.

Some snaps I made

Posted on 11 September 2007 by sam

It was a good weekend for some photography.
First of all there was ‘Open Momumentendag’ where you have the possibility to visit some mounuments or historic places for free. We decided to go to the Atlantic Wall in Raversijde, because we know the kids love to go there. The pics are pretty self-explanatory … I just made them black&white to add some more dramatic effect to them.

I took some nice pics of the kids there to, leaning against a bunker wall.

Then it was time for some experimenting. I have done some ‘ball-shots’ in the past but as they are invading our home ‘en-masse’ I had to make some new shots. Just one for now, but an extra wood pattern should make this up (beside some cropping no additional effects were added). Enjoy.

A night of light and magic

Posted on 22 July 2007 by sam

Just like every year, there were fireworks for the national holiday. This time I decided to take my camera with me.
While I was waiting for the fireworks to begin I was shooting some random pictures. On one of those pictures I had a lucky moment, because the gods showed me a piece of the universe:

Space - the final frontier

Ok, I am just kidding, but it’s a nice picture isn’t it? It’s a picture I took of the fireworks itself.
You can enjoy some more fireworks pics at my Picasa gallery: http://picasaweb.google.com/vermeerschsam
I was really surprised how easy it was to make some nice fireworks pics without going to deep in the book-o-tricks! Enjoy.

  • public transportation is very expensive and a full time job to plan
  • ’switch shops’ should sell ‘Crumpler Bags’
  • I definitely need a random thoughts pic/avatar
  • plan plan plan … buy sell buy sell … plan plan plan … damn monkeys!
  • schlager music should be abandoned
  • we need ‘foute parties’ 2 times a year instead of one
  • mojito … my kingdom for a mojito!
  • people are not interested in my random thoughts … take note of that

Q Music - Foute Party

Posted on 02 July 2007 by sam

(***before you read this post I suggest you put on some music from either “Bonny M”or “The Dolly Dot’s” to get in the mood ***)

It’s been very busy the last two weeks, one of the reason I wasn’t able to post that much. But friday evening was a perfect moment for some relaxation (well some mind relaxation that is…).
Q-Music, one of Belgian leading radio makers, had it’s ‘Foute Party’ for the six year in a row. The party started out with people and has grown to a 13000 people party. Of that number, about 2/3 are dressed disco, flower power or as one of the YMCA guys … no wonder why they call it the ‘Foute Party’ (the wrong party).

It was hot and crazy, enjoying the music of the late sixties, seventies and some totally crazy hits of today and of coarse the life performances of ‘The Dolly Dots’, ‘Bonny M’ (yes Sonny is still alive … barely, I do wonder if that breast hair is still real, in fact mine wasn’t :p), ‘Peter-kom van dat dak af-Koelewijn’ and ‘Bart-kan het nog fouter-Kaëll’. Also, all of of the Q-Music employees did some playback acts, which were hilarious and so fun to see.

Naturally, we had to go ‘fout’ as well … and I can’t resist to share you the delightful evidence of that. Enjoy:
