Adding the SitePoint References to Coda

Mac users will
no doubt be aware of Coda, the popular
text editor for building web pages from scratch.

One reason Coda is so popular is because it brings the workflow for building
a web page into a single window — you can browse, edit, preview, upload and
change permissions on your files, all from the one application. For designers
who get frustrated at having five different applications open to perform all of
these tasks, Coda is a godsend.

There’s one other task that you can perform from within Coda, and that’s look
up reference information. By default, the collection of reference books
available is minimal, but you can extend this collection by adding what we
believe are the best reference books available — the SitePoint
HTML and
CSS References.

Here’s how to do it (with a hat tip to who documented this first):

1) Click the Books tab (Command-6), and select the + button
at the bottom to add a new book.

2) In the dialog window that appears, enter the following
information (we’ll use the SitePoint CSS Reference in this example,
but just substitute “css” with “html” to add the SitePoint HTML Reference):

Book Title: SitePoint CSS
Book URL: http://reference.sitepoint.com/css/
Use For Mode: CSS
Search URL:
http://reference.sitepoint.com/css/*

3) Next, drag an image of this book onto the Cover Image
area. We’ve created a couple of images that you can use for this
purpose, available for download here:

http://sitepointstatic.com/images/coda/sitepoint_css_ref-coda.jpg

CSS Reference Cover Image (JPG, 92 KB)

4) Click OK, and your book will appear in Coda!

The beauty of having this reference information within Coda (apart from the
syntax information and live
examples) is that you can check browser compatibility for an HTML tag or
CSS property using the browser compatibility charts listed in the online
reference.

We have grand plans to provide similar integration of our reference material
for other editing tools. Our aim is to make this reference material available
to as many web designers and developers as possible — stay tuned for a very
exciting announcement on this front soon!

Yesterday they asked me to fix 3 computers that had all the same symptoms. The computers immediatly rebooted after start at the point where the startup screen normally dissapears.

Crash report: missing ‘winsrv.dll’

Seem it isn’t really the virus that is making the computer go banana but an update of AVG 7.5
AVG is calling a false positive on either user32.dll, winsrv.dll or gdi32.dll, putting it in the vault and causes windows boot to fail.

The solution in my case was booting in safe mode, removing AVG completly and rebooting. After that you can install AVG 8.0 without any problem.

If this doesn’t work, it’s possible you will have to copy one or more files back to their original place:

copy c:\windows\system32\dllcache\user32.dll c:\windows\system32\user32.dll < enter >
copy c:\windows\system32\dllcache\winsrv.dll c:\windows\system32 < enter >
copy c:\windows\system32\dllcache\gdi32.dll c:\windows\system32 < enter >

These commands can be performed by booting in repair mode.

Shame this must happen with a well known and used virusscanner.

My second AoC post and probably my last one as well.

This is not going to be a review of Age of Conan as there are plenty already. Also, I’m not going to do a comparison as there are probably plenty already to. These are just my thoughts after playing Age of Conan for a few hours. Please bear in mind that all this is in a level <20 perspective, so game experiences could change after that!

the game is very linear, the paths to goals are preset and you are not able to wander off into the woods, etc…

there are still loads of bugs

characters are not balanced yet

every new character has the same starting location, so it’s the same levels all over again when you roll a new char

the visual system is nice but way to heavy on most systems, mmorpgs are not about graphics

crafting only starts at level 40 ????

you don’t know when you’ll get new spells or feats and at what level

most of the time you level without noticing

sticky walls and items

invisible walls and items

even more sticky invisible walls and items

I hate the jump animation, it looks like monkey that gets caught while masturbating

speech and missions vocab is nice, but who cares, just gimme my gold and XP

the combat system is nice for a while … then it’s just 1 - 2 - 3 3 - 2 -1

those damn invisible walls!!!!

all characters look alike, I don’t know what a player, npc or enemy is … until they attack!

it didn’t dare to try, but pvp has to be a nightmare for beginners … spawn campers fest it is!!!

exclamation marks and question marks … where did we see that before

after a while the minimap is cluttered with grey and orange arrows, question marks and other dots … wtf

you don’t need to search your quest objectives … the minimap does it all for you. Next time, let the combat be automatic as well please, so we can watch tv instead of gaming.

you need experience before you can climb a ladder???? Oh well, putting 80 points in there, trying the ladder … and I fall right through it. Well not enough xp I guess … or just another glitch in the system.

Death penalties … stacked … I’m dead again already

you get logged out after being idle to long

now … why can’t I cross those stairs? Aah, I’m running to much to the left of it and didn’t notice THAT INVISIBLE WALL!!!!

to many character look like ‘Jean-Marie Pfaff’, anybody seen Kelly around?

the aggro system doesn’t function properly

the buddy invite system doesn’t work, probably because non of the trial accounts would ever become a payed account …

…

This really isn’t my game and to bad it wasn’t possible to test this game first before spending +€40 just to see that after a few hours of gameplay I’m never going to startup this game again.
Oh … and why are all those reviews so promising about this game? You can’t just ignore all of these negative aspects just because it’s a more, and maybe a bit unique, combat system (and not it’s not totally unique either)!!!!!

Age of Conan launches it's game with a few problems like the buddy program and some server issues

Ok I don’t really get it but I don’t think Funcom is doing a great job at the moment.

Since a few days the game is live and publicly available. Now … I would really like to try out the game as it looks promising, but I really want to experience this myself for a couple of days to be sure my investment is worth it.
They don’t have a trial version, I can understand that, no problem as they have a buddy invite program. I have few friends playing AoC and asked if they could share me a key. In the mean while I download the client (about 12GB!!). Now I just got word from my buddies: “Sorry mate, the server gives me this in reply:The buddy key program will open as soon as server capacity allows. Please check back later.
I immediatly hit the Funcom forums for some more info and all I read was complaints. Collectors edition that promisis 5 extra codes but are not included, Age of Conan experiences startup troubles, the game is not actually finished, … hmmm wonder why they did go live then!

Common Funcom, let’s be serious, for a company that announces it’s new mmorpg as worlds biggest beta program:

Durham, USA – May 13, 2008 – Funcom and Eidos are proud to confirm some of the impressive figures powering the Age of Conan launch, and the two companies are happy to reveal that the Age of Conan Beta has passed 1 million sign-ups! As one of the most anticipated MMO’s ever, the 1 million mark confirms the amazing interest in the game.

“Funcom has not been able to find any higher beta numbers for MMOs in the western world,” said Morten Larssen, VP of Funcom Sales and Marketing. “We believe it represents the largest ever beta sign-up figure in the history of the genre.”

Having the largest beta program and not being ready for the launch? C’mon. On top of this, if there’s no capacity for buddies (and probably potential players) why should I believe the servers will be ready to take on a payed account? Or do I have to pay now and wait a month before I can get in to?

I know, I’ve could’ve joined the beta program, but why join the beta program if you know you won’t have the time to contribute and bughunt (as that’s what the beta is for). And I tried to get into the early joiners program but had no luck at that.
Well … guess the only solution is buying the game. So let’s head of to the www.ageofconan.com site, click the ‘buy now’ button. Have to click the ‘buy from a retailer’ before I can continue (like wtf?, there’s no other possibility and in the mean while I have all sorts of music and speech mixed through each other aaaaarghhh) and then I look for an appropriate online store, as Belgium is not listed (!). So I guess it will be ‘internation’ and I choose the Funcom Online shop. Ok let’s see … Dreamfall, Dreamfall Limited edition … NO I want AoC … Anarchy online (wasn’t that made free btw?), The Longest Journey, The Longest Journey Soundtrack. What? There’s no AoC on there????

So my only option is going to the store (and it’s raining cats and dogs for the moment) and pay for media I don’t need just to be able to play a game, that’s not finished and that isn’t capable of taking extra accounts as the servers are not ready for it. I don’t even want to go into the pricing issue which ranges from 15€ to 40€ per month depending in what country you live!

You know what … I’ll stick to Eve Online, and maybe … just maybe I’ll try this procedure again in a few years from now.

As you can see some of the blogger really put effort in this, others ignore it.
If you made a blog-tag post and you don’t see an update on the following days
PS. while you’re here … you are always welcome to click the sponsor links on the right, it adds to the funding of my wishlist hihi

I recently changed domainname, I used to blog on blog.amidala.be but I wanted a domainname that stood out a little bit more. Www.thecowinthemiddle.com is a statement, I just haven’t figured out what statement. But back to the point. Due to the change I lost a lot of hits, links and pagerank points. Because of that I looked into a few tips and tricks to boost your blog, one of them being blog-tagging.

The idea is simpel, tell 5 things about yourself not commonly known and tag 5 persons you know to do the same thing. This will give you an extra 5 backlinks. It’s not only a good way to boost your blog but it looks like fun to.

Here are my facts:

1) My first computer was a tandy TRS-80 computer. You had to write all the code yourself for, but it didn’t have any media to save it to. Power off … program gone.

2) I graduated as an orthopedriast / educator.

3) In highschool I sucked at maths. It could been the teacher that sucked too, can’t recall. But this was the mean reason I didn’t continue informatics in high school.

4) I worked the weekends as a DJ for almost 3 years … in a gay bar. Don’t get met wrong, I’m hetero and I always was. But it was a nice place to work and I have no problems with gays at all! YMCA Powah!! :p

5) I think I have a phobie for needles. The thought of people taking blood of me, sticking a needle into my vains makes my dizzy!!! Nevertheless I have a tattoo and a piercing … go figure! People are strange being.

The 5 persons I tag are:

Timo - http://www.itcrowd.be

Crahan - http://www.n00.be

Jo3ri - http://jo3ri.blogspot.com

Sarah - http://sarah.has.nocreativity.com/blog/

Shane - http://www.cobrapit.be

I thank these 5 brilliant people in advance. I trully hope all of them are into this and I get some response to this.

Guess this means a new skin … or find some time to create my own skin again.

I noticed my visitor rate has increased lately. I’m getting frequent hits from everywhere, the cusual surfer, some regular known visitors but a lot of hits through google and other search engines. The strangest searchwords/keywords turn up in the logs, just as if I’m being screened.

Even though I try to keep my private life as much separated from my internet life as possible, I don’t have any digital secrets, and I leave digital fingerprints everywhere … some intentionally, others without knowing.

But hey … I welcome all new visitors and the more hits the better. It’s nice to know my stuff is being read and probably criticised. I will even make it somewhat easier for the casual surfer to find me on the net and provide them with an updated list of all my known digital fingerprints.

If I should forget any, please feel free to comment and leave a link where you found me.
Ok here we go, here are the places you can find me. Starting with a plus are sites that I visit/update on a regular base, the ones with a minus … well you get the point:
